Stormy Daniels is suing Trump for defamation over a tweet

The lawsuit seeks damages of $75,000.

Adult-film actress Stormy Daniels, who is already suing President Donald Trump and his personal attorney in Los Angeles over an affair she claims she had with Trump a decade ago, sued Trump again Monday accusing him of defamation. The president went on to say that Avenatti and Daniels were "playing the fake news media for fools".

The complaint, filed in the Southern District of NY, focuses on a tweet Trump posted earlier this month calling Daniels' claim a "con job".

"Ms Clifford has been exposed to death threats and other threats of physical violence, causing her both emotional and economic damages", it said.

Former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti noted on Twitter that defamation requires a statement to be damaging, and certain false statements, such as lying about someone committing a crime, are "presumed to be damaging". They cited one frightening instance in 2011 when an unknown man approached her in a health club parking lot and threatened her to remain silent about Trump. Avenatti says Daniels will likely appeal the decision to delay that case. And a guy walked up on me and said to me, "Leave Trump alone. Forget the story, '" Daniels told Anderson Cooper in an interview. "Then he leaned around and looked at my daughter and said, 'That's a lovely little girl - it'd be a shame if something happened to her mom.' And then he was gone".

The next day, Trump, who has denied through White House press officials allegations that he had an affair with Daniels, responded to the composite sketch on his Twitter account.

Daniels is now locked in a legal battle to break from the nondisclosure agreement she signed prior to the 2016 presidential election that kept her from speaking on the alleged affair she had with Trump in 2006.

And now, she's diving further down the legal rabbit hole over a tweet by the USA president saying that she was she was playing a "con job" on the media.

California judge James Otero has temporarily put a hold on Daniels' lawsuit against Trump and his personal attorney Michael Cohen for 90 days.
