Instagram announces video chat feature, a month after Snapchat

Instagram noted that you don't have to connect your Instagram account to other apps in order to share to Stories.

Facebook's Instagram is letting third parties tap into the social network's 800 million-plus user base in new ways - including letting Spotify and other apps share directly into Instagram Stories and opening up augmented-reality camera effects to partners. You can trim a video to show only the part you want to share - Stories are supposed to be short snippets and not full movies, after all - within the app, as well.

Which feature coming to Instagram are you most excited for? Tuesday they announced that Instagram is set to transform with several new features set to "improve" the app. You can minimize the people you're chatting with and continue to search and explore Instagram and people you chat with can't see your screen.

WhatsApp first brought video calling to WhatsApp back in 2016. Instagram has taken advantage of Facebooks Camera Effects Platform to bring AR effects from celebrity accounts like Ariana Grande, Vogue, and the National Basketball Association.

But there are also improvements to Stories, and a new Instagram Explore design that "makes discovery even easier" according to Instagram. No, this feature is not for muting audio or video, instead it will allow users to mute posts from certain profiles in their feed, without having to unfollow them.

'That means you turn any video into a National Basketball Association dunkcam or add a cloud of hearts and Pomeranians to fluff up your photo, ' Instagram says.

A Slow-Mo mode might also be coming to Instagram Stories, if Jane Manchun Wong's screenshots are anything to go by.

"The music world lives on Instagram-three out of the top five most-followed accounts belong to music artists", Instagram wrote in a press release.

A year ago at F8 we announced the AR camera platform, and today we're bringing it to Instagram.

Recent, Instagram announced that soon users will be able to store their data just like Facebook. This would archive all your Stories, so you can see what you posted on which day of the month and view them back.

It seems like every week, Instagram adds a new feature to its app. However, you can share things you find directly to whomever you're chatting with.
