Giuliani doesn't rule out Trump taking the Fifth

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani says, "How could I ever be confident of that".

President Donald Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani pushed back on reports that his boss is growing exhausted of his media tear, telling NBC News on Tuesday that the president was actually encouraging him to do more TV hits in the coming days. "You know, the president feels that the TV interviews have organized his supporters and those who understand the way in which he's being treated - badly treated - in this situation from the very beginning".

Giuliani said he discussed legal strategy with Trump on Sunday when the duo played golf for "four or five hours", adding that they had a brief discussion on Monday. "But everybody knows that, and he gives us great encouragement that we've finally gotten on the offensive".

Giuliani revealed Wednesday that Trump reimbursed his longtime lawyer, Michael Cohen, for a $130,000 payment he made to porn star Stormy Daniels to buy her silence about an affair she says she had with Trump.

"I've seen men on "To Catch a Predator" with better media appearances", Meyers joked. "He's very comfortable with the strategy we're pursuing".

Some White House staffers have even begun comparing Giuliani's performance with Anthony Scaramucci.

"I wish they were that smart".

Multiple news outlets have reported that Giuliani has fallen out of favor with Trump following a almost weeklong media blitz.

But according to Scarborough, the White House could only distract the public for so long.

Following the leak of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's questions for President Donald Trump regarding the Russian Federation investigation, and conflicting comments by Trump and his new attorney, Rudy Giuliani, Mueller has reportedly rejected a request by Trump's legal team to answer the questions in writing rather than in person.

If the two teams are unable to come to an agreement and Trump is subpoenaed for an interview, Giuliani told CBS that he will fight the subpoena.

Giuliani also alienated a number of people in Trump's inner circle by insisting that the only Cabinet position he would consider would be secretary of state.

"They've backed off that because they realize that could really, really backfire on them", Giuliani said.

Giuliani added that he wants any potential meeting to take place after a highly anticipated summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, as "he believes that it would take several days to prepare the president for this kind of interview and he would not want to take [Trump] away from preparing for talks with North Korea". But he later told NBC News that the payment had nothing to do with the campaign and was instead meant to "prevent personal embarrassment and heartache to his wife", first lady Melania Trump. Initially, Trump told reporters that he had no idea about the hush payment Michael Cohen made to Stormy Daniels.

After Trump chided Giuliani on Friday, saying the lawyer needed to "get his facts straight", Giuliani put out a statement trying to clarify his remarks. "He's a good kid, and he already knows all of his shapes.'" Meanwhile, on Late Night, Seth Meyers offered a different comparison: "[Giuliani] is a former mayor and USA attorney who's now the lawyer for the president of the United States, and Trump talks about him like he's a trainee at Chipotle".
