Trump Will Meet North Korea's Kim In Singapore In June

But the island nation was favored by most of his advisers.

Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, other top officials and first lady Melania joined the president in the celebration in the wee hours of Thursday morning at Joint Base Andrews near Washington.

Pompeo said that all three countries - the US, South Korea and North Korea - share the same vision for future of the Korean peninsula.

The statement was released through the Pentagon by the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. "Keep America Great", he said in IN to thunderous applause'.

It adds that "too much stimuli all at once is emotionally overwhelming".

The release of the Americans is seen as a goodwill gesture by North Korea ahead of those talks.

The three former prisoners are Korean-Americans.

He says Trump's confrontational Twitter diplomacy over the a year ago was "baffling to many", but says it's created enough North Korean uncertainty about American intentions to coax Kim into talks.

Japan says North Korea abducted at least 17 Japanese citizens in the 1970s and 1980s to train agents in Japanese culture and language to spy on South Korea.

North Korea has yet to publicly comment on the matter. For about 70 years since the Korean War, the US and North Korea have been hostile to one another.

"But we got, up front, our people home".

Kim will clearly be looking for some kind of victory of his own, and may seek concessions, such as ending the trade sanctions that have banned exports from North Korea, in exchange for tamping down his nuclear program.

"If that happens, it could give North Korea an opportunity to try to drive a wedge between Seoul and Washington", said Denmark, now a director at the Wilson Center, a think tank in the USA capital.

"I think it will be a big success", Trump said as he boarded Air Force One, on his way to a political rally in Indiana.

He says, "We have no illusions about that".

The United States asked North Korea to remove five nuclear weapons, that would be then flown to France for destruction, according to a South Korean press report.

North Korea is unlikely to comply with these steps easily.

Both Trump and Kim have set "denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula" as the goal of the summit.

This time, Trump is going in at the very beginning, before any of that hard spadework has taken place.

The release of Kim Hak-song, Tony Kim, and Kim Dong-chul removed one obstacle, providing Trump with evidence that his twin-track policy of engagement and "maximum pressure" is working. The aircraft is parked before a large American flag suspended between two fire trucks. After being flown to a USA military base in Japan, the men were taken to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.

"I want to thank Kim Jong Un", Trump said on the tarmac. The White House said the men are in good health and undergoing medical evaluations at Walter Reed Hospital.

America will help rebuild North Korea's economy if it agrees to give up its nuclear weapons, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said.
