Griezmann dismisses transfer talk after 'dream' final

The only side to overcome them in knockout European football since 2013 are arch-rivals Real Madrid, who beat them in the 2014 and 2016 Champions League finals and knocked them out of the same competition in 2015 and 2017.

Atletico conclude their league season against Eibar on Sunday, and it remains to be seen if that is Griezmann's last game for the club as he has been heavily linked with Barcelona.

The Catalan giants have always been linked with Atletico Madrid striker Griezmann, whose final act for the capital club could prove to be his brace in their 3-0 Europa League final triumph over Marseille on Wednesday. "I hope he'll make history with the club because, thanks to him, we are here".

"We're going to try to increase Oblak's clause, but what we have to do is trust him", Gil Marin told Spanish programme Cadena COPE. "I've been here four years, and I have enjoyed today with the fans, the people of the club, my relationship with them is strong, which is why I give everything on the pitch".

"It's about more than a trophy", Simeone said.

Atleti boss Diego Simeone, meanwhile, said the club would continue to grow whether they lost Griezmann or not.

"It's hard to explain how happy I feel after so much time, it was a dream I've always had since I was a child", Torres said.

Antoine Griezmann was determined to land his first major trophy with Atletico Madrid as his brace led to Europa League glory against Marseille.

The outcome could have been different had Marseille forward Valere Germain taken an early chance, before Griezmann's lethal finishing allowed Atletico to take control. If we want to play the Champions League or the Europa League next year, we will have to go through mental challenges.
