Cavs' Love, Thompson avoid suspension for Game 1 altercation

Tristan Thompson might face a suspension after shoving the ball in the face of Draymond Green in the closing seconds of Game 1 on Thursday after he was already ejected.

Thompson had taken exception to Warriors guard Shaun Livingston putting up a shot with five seconds left in overtime and the game in hand. I make the contest, and next thing I know, I was being kicked out for a good contest that we learn in training camp.

Game 1 of the NBA Finals ended with some fireworks between Cleveland and Golden State, and a couple of Cavs players may be hearing from the League office in the not-too-distant future. The scuffle really sparked when Tristan Thompson lost his cool after receiving a flagrant foul.

"I don't care if he plays or not", Thompson added.

"I've got a sore ligament", Thompson told reporters. When the two forwards approached each other, Thompson had some words before ramming the ball into Green's face.

Because of the ejection and subsequent scuffle there was a very real concern that Thompson, who has played an integral role in the Cavs' success this postseason, would be suspended for Game 2.

Information from ESPN's Chris Haynes and Dave McMenamin was used in this report. I mean, he's great on the o-boards (offensive rebounds). We're not trying to go dunk on them. Just a few minutes into the game, Klay Thompson had to head to the locker room with a left lateral leg contusion, according to the ABC broadcast.
