Super Eagles' Iwobi, Aina promise Dele Alli hell

England's World Cup preparations got off to a winning start on Saturday, with the Three Lions securing a 2-1 win over Nigeria at Wembley.

But in today's game at Wembley, Nigerian fans were disappointed that he pledged his allegiance to England rather than their own side.

Despite the slow start, England had pace and controlled the game in the first 45 minutes.

Sterling went in the book for taking an unnecessary tumble in the box and Eric Dier rose to head wide as England sought to reassert themselves.

Pickford made his third appearance for England on Saturday, while 25-year-old Butland has won seven caps and Pope, 26, is yet to make his debut.

Nigeria's Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina have promised to bombard Dele Alli with banter, hoping that it will help the Super Eagles beat England in their friendly worldwide on Saturday.

Kane said: "It was a good win against a tough side".

"I think first and foremost he has conducted himself fantastically well this week, he has managed that situation very well".

"How do you play against a team with five in the back?"

"The first lesson is we are not ready yet".

The period leading up to their goal, they changed their system and we took some time to adjust.

England have a final World Cup friendly clash with Costa Rica on Thursday June 7, before making their way to Russian Federation.

Meanwhile, Lagos-born Iwobi and London-born Aina chose Nigeria for senior global football but they played alongside Alli for England's youth teams and it's this familiarity they're looking to tap into to put the Tottenham Hotspur star off his game at Wembley. "It was great to score - it's always nice for a striker and now I'm looking forward to the game on Thursday". Francis Uzoho made his first save from a Kieran Trippier free-kick soon after as the Three Lions laid siege on Nigeria's half of the pitch. That was two minutes into the second half and the Eagles finally had lifted off.

"To the Super Eagles, I wish you all d best of luck in Russian Federation go and make us proud".
