Andrew Luck's Father, Oliver, Named XFL Commissioner And CEO

"Football has been a constant in my life for more than 40 years, and I am thrilled to have the unique opportunity to reimagine the game", Luck said.

Vince McMahon's XFL now has a boss. and it's the same man who happened to raise one of the NFL's best quarterbacks - Oliver Luck!

The @XFL2020 has named former National Football League and NCAA player and executive Oliver Luck as its first Commissioner and CEO, sources tell ESPN.

He will now relocate from Indianapolis to the XFL's headquarters in CT as he prepares for the league's launch in 2020. In 2001, the XFL debuted to big ratings on NBC before viewership fell off sharply and the league folded after one season. The new XFL is scheduled to begin in 2020.

"The XFL will be a labor of love as I get to combine my experiences as a player and executive", Luck told ESPN in an email. From 2010-2014 he worked as the athletic director at his alma mater, West Virginia University. The pro-wrestling overlord's first attempt at an alternative to the NFL, in 2001, was marked by slapdash preparation and bad football, dooming it to a lone year of existence.

The XFL has named Oliver as its first commissioner and CEO.

The XFL will embrace the latest on and off-field technology, providing live game coverage, content and real-time engagement across multiple platforms, giving fans greater access than ever before.

At the NCAA, Luck oversaw all NCAA enforcement, academic and membership affairs and athlete eligibility.

The XFL is set to start slated to launch its first 10-week regular season in January of 2020.

The 58-year-old also has held notable positions with Major League Soccer and the Houston Sports Authority. Host cities and stadiums are now being sought by the league through requests for proposals.
