Moon's trip to Singapore during Trump-Kim meeting 'not decided yet'

He said: "I think Kim didn't realise who Donald Trump was at that time, I guess, until he started to read the book and started to get to understand him. The advanced team in Singapore is finalizing logistical preparations and will remain in place until the summit begins", Sanders said.

In the past, 56-year-old Rodman has praised Trump for the planned summit, saying it was "a historical meeting no US president has ever done".

US and North Korean officials are continuing to lay the groundwork ahead of the summit.

He is not the first Singaporean leader to visit North Korea. He warned North Korea that only when they agree to complete denuclearization can they expect economic sanctions to lift.

The offer comes after a media report that the cash-strapped North may have trouble bearing the cost of its leader's stay in Singapore and the large delegation of security and support staff for the meeting scheduled for June 12.

There could be another familiar face in town for the meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un.

On Friday Trump appeared to play down the expectations, saying the unprecedented summit between the two countries will be the beginning of a process.

The Singapore government has said police would make stricter checks of people and personal belongings and items such as public address systems and remotely piloted aircraft system would be prohibited in the area.

A spokesperson for the U.S. agency told reporters that the American government "is not paying for the North Korean delegation", adding "we're not paying for their expenses".

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders tweeted that the meeting will be held at Capella Hotel on Sentosa Island. He noted that Russian Federation, as a nation that shares a border with North Korea, is frightened by the prospect of a conflict.

The summit is due to be held following a rapid detente between Pyongyang and Washington - as well as South Korea - in a turn-around from a dramatic escalation of tensions past year, when the North ratcheted up its weapons programme.
