Lyon put an end to Nabil Fekir’s proposed transfer to Liverpool

"Olympique Lyonnais confirms that the tri-party negotiations with Liverpool and Nabil Fekir for the transfer of the Lyon captain have not succeeded and that Olympique Lyonnaise have made a decision to put an end to the negotiations at 20:00 [CET] on Saturday night".

Nabil Fekir has passed his Liverpool medical and will become the Reds' latest signing, according to French FA president Noel Le Graet.

The FC crew analyse the major curveball thrown by Lyon as they ended negotiations with Liverpool over the transfer of Nabil Fekir.

Fekir's agent confirmed earlier this week that although Liverpool were interested in signing his client, the deal was far from being completed.

Fekir had his medical at Clairefontaine on Friday afternoon but the transfer stalled after Liverpool sought a second opinion on the midfielder's right knee.

The French global scored 18 goals whilst chipping in with seven assists, ultimately helping Lyon to secure Champions League qualification as well as giving last season's defending champions AS Monaco a run for their money.

Sorry Liverpool fans, Fekir isn't going anywhere... for now, at least.

British and French media have been reporting for several days that the 24-year-old, who is part of France's World Cup squad, was on the verge of joining Liverpool for 60-70 million euros (USD 71-82 million).

With Nabil Fekir-to-Liverpool all but done, Julien Laurens describes what kind of player he is and where he'd be best suited in Jurgen Klopp's XI.

Whether this represents the actual end of the pursuit of Fekir remains to be seen. His ability to play a variety of positions already makes him a unique component in the final third and if he can stay healthy, he will no doubt improve the already lethal-looking Liverpool side.
