Paul McCartney Joins James Corden for Carpool Karaoke

He said: "I'm in Liverpool, and I need your help".

James Corden is hanging out across the pond, so for his latest installment of Carpool Karaoke, he tapped into the local talent in Liverpool to be his partner in singing in the auto.

The segment ended with Corden and McCartney surprising locals at a pub.

Corden and McCartney visited a few of the singer's favorite spots around town during the segment.

After beginning with "Drive My Car", the pair are seen taking a ride down Penny Lane, where it's only right that they sing the song in question.

As they look around, Sir Paul says one of the downstairs rooms is where "me and John would often come to rehearse or to write".

During the drive, Corden told McCartney: "Your music is so full of positivity and joy and a message of love and togetherness, I feel like it's more relevant now today maybe than it's ever been". Paul even makes James tear up as he shares the inspiration behind "Let It Be".

Corden said it was the "most lovely story" he had ever heard, before singing a teary rendition of the song.

The rocker then explained to James how his mother used to give early Beatles admirers cups of tea, before greeting modern day fans outside his home.

As part of the video, the pair embarked on a journey around McCartney's hometown, visiting Penny Lane and his family home, which he saw for the first time in 50 years.

Describing how he and Lennon had played She Loves You to his father, McCartney recalls him asking if they could change the refrain to "yes, yes, yes" because there were already too many Americanisms in common use.

As they made their way down the road, the song began to play on the radio and the former Beatle sang along before they left the auto and the singer signed his autograph on the road sign.
