Panama defender Cummings fires warning to England

While counterparts had their lenses tracking the players before Sunday's game against Panama, the London Evening Standard newspaper's Jeremy Selywn snapped a piece of paper in the hands of Steve Holland showing players in formation.

A photo of a scribbled team lineup, spotted in the hands of an assistant coach, threatens to sour the unusually cordial World Cup relations between the England team and its traveling media pack. "We knocked it on the head at that".

The England midfielder said Emily Webb, England senior team operations coordinator and PA to Southgate, is ready to get him back as quickly as possible - and with the blessing of the England manager.

The England boss also appeared unhappy with the eagerness with which English media outlets have recently pounced on apparent team leaks.

Neville was responding to journalists who were arguing that they were simply doing their jobs.

"If you guys just try and keep it to yourself and don't bring it out, because it's not going to help us", Walker said.

Only a few days earlier, the Daily Mail had revealed the team for England's group opener against Tunisia in advance of the official announcement and it's an issue that has since been addressed by Southgate, who suggested that reporters were putting his players at a disadvantage in Russian Federation.

"The stories are then run as they are. But he's progressing really well so we won't rule that out just yet".

Before leaving for Russian Federation, he was widely-criticised by the media for having a tattoo of a gun on his leg, with some more hysterical commentators calling for him to be dropped from the squad.

"I would have loved to have been on that plane, but I think now that's put me in a better position coming into this World Cup".

"Well it's typical of England, isn't it?"

"If they decide to loan him out again we will be first in line with the begging bowl". "Obviously VAR has helped them a lot, but he hasn't chosen to use it". Gary Lineker described their performance the other night as exceptional.

"For me, it is a bit of a cloudy situation where when do they use it?"

And it was all going so swimmingly.
