Google Home smart speakers hit by glitch

Google Home smart speakers hit by glitch

"We've rolled out a fix for the issue impacting Google Home and Chromecast users".

While many users are now reporting that their Google Home is working properly, the outage map shows problems still exist along both coasts in the USA, the Northeast, Northwest, Florida and parts of Texas. I even tried factory reset but Google home is replying with same command.

One user said his speaker replied to the "OK Google" command with "Google home has not setup yet".

While no official line has been released explaining the fault, one Redditor speculated that a recent update to add Spanish to the devices may have caused the problem.

Affected users have been tweeting at Google for most of the afternoon so it appears the issue is significant enough to sufficiently trouble Google's engineers.

If you woke up yesterday morning and found your Google Home device wasn't working properly, you weren't alone - users were prevented from interacting with their Google-based smart devices, and no amount of resetting and tinkering with options fixed the problem.

The problem stopped the user from completing any interaction with Google Home and Chromecast devices.

Google Chromecast and Home devices suffered extended downtime on 27 June 2018, The Guardian reported.

@madebygoogle Since today when i say OK GOOGLE, home replies me with "Google home has not setup yet".

Users on the west coast of America began alerting Google to the outages on Tuesday evening Pacific time.

Can't see your device in the Google Home app?

Google Home and Chromecast owners started reporting issues to Google early Wednesday morning, according to online help forums for both devices.

We've confirmed this here ourselves with our own Google Home Mini.
