Durant is cutting the Warriors another financial break

Steve Kerr has reportedly been signed to a lucrative 5-year extension with the Golden State Warriors, according to multiple sources.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Saturday because the deal can not be signed until Friday.

Golden State has won back-to-back championships and Durant has earned two straight Finals MVP awards during his time with the team.

Kerr is entering the final season of the five-year, $25 million deal that he signed in May of 2014.

Once Durant signs the reported one-plus-one deal, it would be the third contract of its kind he's signed with the Warriors since first coming to Golden State two summers ago. Rockets point guard Chris Paul has agreed to sign a four-year, $160 million deal, according to the Houston Chronicle. However, the Warriors blew a 3-1 Finals lead to the eventual 2016 champion Cleveland Cavaliers.

Three of the NBA's biggest stars are off the market. "Process that", Philadelphia star Joel Embiid wrote on Twitter. It will be enough to get Myers on the phone with Crawford's agent, Aaron Goodwin, when the free agency period begins at 9 p.m. on Saturday.

Rockets • Gerald Green and his hometown Houston Rockets are staying together. The 2011 NBA MVP has agreed to a one-year deal worth almost $2.4 million to stay with Minnesota, a person with knowledge of the negotiations said. It does, however, position Durant for a massive deal next summer-when the NBA's salary cap is projected to be significantly higher.
