Toys R Us closes final stores Friday

The company is continuing to operate stores in Europe and Australia, as well as 255 licensed stores and joint venture partnerships in Asia, which were not part of the bankruptcy filing.

Toys 'R Us filed for bankruptcy in September 2017 and began closing its 735 USA stores in March, with the last and final round of the brick and mortar locations officially closing doors this week. Promise us just this one thing: Don't ever grow up.

In 2017, Toys "R" Us filed for bankruptcy and in March 2018 the company announced it was going out of business and closing all USA stores. Days, months, and years will pass until this contact becomes rare.

"I'm sad", Tina Ohemenj said. "My heart is breaking", Johnpiere wrote with a photo of the store's sale signs.

Triple H got a big kick out of the images and took to social media to tease that maybe fans will see Geoffrey in an NXT ring someday.

"Because we were forced to liquidate the USA business, we were not able to follow the normal severance process", said a Toys "R" Us spokesperson earlier this month. "I was surrounded by children".

"Thanks for recommendation. You know what they say, Geoffrey when one door closes.another one opens!"

Geoffrey has acted as the chain's logo and "spokesanimal" for the past 70 years.

By the 80s and early 90s, Toys R Us dominated the toy-store business and its jingle, "I'm a Toys R Us kid" became an anthem for children across the country.

Meanwhile, five former Toys R Us executives, including former CEO David Brandon, shared $8.2 million in retention bonuses.
