Golden retriever saves owner from being bit by rattlesnake in Anthem

Paula was out walking Todd and her other dog, Cooper, in Anthem, Arizona, in the Southwest of the United States, when she very almost stood on a rattlesnake.

The grateful owner posted the story of their snake encounter on Facebook, alongside photographs of Todd's swollen features.

"He for sure saved me from being bitten", Godwin said.

Godwin posted an update on her Facebook page for those anxious about his health and wrote, he seems to heal well.

The retriever, Todd, and his owner, Paula Godwin, were walking early Friday morning down 7th Street and Carefree Highway when Godwin nearly stepped on a rattlesnake, according to Godwin's Facebook post.

Todd, who is less than a year old, tackled the rattlesnake but ended up getting bitten on the nose. Thankfully, Godwin had a guardian angel in Todd.

The pup was taken to Animal Hospital at Anthem for treatment, AZFamily.com reported. "Just a thank you to all the support Your kindness and support is truly a blessing", she wrote thanking everyone.

The group has set a goal of $500, and raised $125 in its first two hours after being launched. Godwin states that the fundraiser is not specifically for Todd, but to help others in need.

"We don't deserve dogs", one user stated, while another stated "dogs are the best people".

Todd is now recovering from the injury. "Of course, I would rather have been bitten by the snake, but he did [instead]. He deserves steak tips to be added to his Puppy, Dog Chow meal wkly". He saved his human from a rattlesnake yesterday.

In the words of user Lewdicolo: "What a heckin fearless doggo".
