Merkel Rejects EU ‘Fortress’ in Clash With Hungary on Migration

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Thursday that the perspective on the migration between Hungary and Germany is very different. But Merkel made a deal with him. "We are out unfortunately", Merkel said of the German team, which crashed out in the first round. His visit came amid the Germany's ruling coalition parties are in a dispute over migration policy. "I would be ready to support negotiations on reducing tariffs but we would not be able to do this only with the U.S".

Speaking at a joint news conference after their meeting in Berlin, Merkel said despite recent moves by European Union nations to clamp down on asylum-seekers moving across Europe's open borders, she want to ensure they are treated with "humanity" and the continent isn't turned into "fortress" Europe.

Orban said if Hungary's army didn't protect the borders with Serbia and Croatia, as many as 5,000 migrants would arrive in Germany daily. "So there are a number of issues that we would like to discuss here also bilaterally, a number of substantive issues".
