George Clooney injured in scooter accident in Italy

The 57-year-old actor was traveling along a road in Costa Corallina, in the province of Olbia-Tempio in Sardinia, when the incident occurred, reported TGCOM24.

A picture from La Nuova suggests that Clooney hit a vehicle while on the motorway.

Clooney, 57, was riding the bike at Costa Corallina on the island of Sardinia when he was involved in a collision with a vehicle, according to Italy's TGR Rai Sardegna.

Olbia police commander Giovanni Mannoni told the outlet that Clooney did not suffer any serious injuries and he will be monitored by hospital staff as an outpatient for the next 20 days. Local media that had gathered at the hospital said Clooney is believed to have left through a side exit.

The actor is now on the island filming a new TV series "Catch-22", based on the 1961 book of the same name written by Joseph Heller.

George has been working hard in the region for his new project Catch 22, with the star directing, producing and starring in the six episode miniseries based on Joseph Heller's seminal novel.

The story, set in Italy during World War 2, focuses on Christopher Abbott's character of Yossarian, a US Air Force bombardier who is furious because the bureaucratic rule known as Catch-22.

George Clooney has been rushed to hospital after a motorbike crash.

Clooney was pictured stepping off a private jet with wife Amal and twins, Alexander and Ella, near the end of last month. Clooney fell off the scooter and slammed into the windshield of the Mercedes. It's unclear when George will return to filming.

Sardinia is a large Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea and is over 500 miles from Clooney's villa in Lake Como.
