Federation Internationale de Football Association chief says VAR use in World Cup is a success

FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Friday hailed the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation as the best ever.

In a press conference held in Moscow today, Infantino expressed satisfaction with the 21st FIFA World Cup in Russian Federation and the use of video assistant referee (VAR).

President of the worldwide football federations (FIFA) Gianni Infantino said that joint bids for World Cup are his favorite.

"We've done it with our host broadcast services", said Federico.

On the VAR technology, the president of Federation Internationale de Football Association said that the VAR system had made a successful start at the World Cup, through the current edition in Russia, and helped correct the mistakes made by the referees.

"FIFA members have grown in quality, there are now many teams that usually come to the World Cup and haven't qualified this time", he confirmed.

Infantino added: "I will be happy if it stays at 32 teams as previously established".

The FIFA president said with VAR, referee decisions had passed from 95 percent to 99.2 percent accuracy: "Of 16 referee decisions changed, 16 wrong decisions became 16 right decisions".

"The decision was taken after having analysed the respective evidence available and considered all factors surrounding the infringement, including the fact that the incident was triggered by a very small group of fans", said an official statement.

"There have been zero in this World Cup, because they know people will spot it".

Addressing claims that the tournament had helped the Russian government whitewash its role in internal and global conflicts, such as in Chechnya or Ukraine, Infantino maintained that the World Cup, if nothing else, had provided a path to dialogue. Then we will decide calmly what the decision is.

"There is nothing more powerful than participating in an event like the World Cup to boost football", he said.

The World Cup has traditionally been held during the months of May-July, with the majority of competitions taking place in June. I'm sure we'll also need Argentina in the next World Cup, ' said the FIFA President. For the moment we have a World Cup with 32 teams. "You don't have to look any further than the countries that were left out of this World Cup".

"Players will be mid-season, not at the end of their seasons, at a time when they can be at their peak of their performance levels", Al Thawadi said.
