Malcom targeted by Barcelona despite agreement with Roma

Roma have rekindled their interest in Chelsea linked winger Leon Bailey after losing out on Malcom to Barcelona this summer.

FC Barcelona have announced the signing of a Brazilian forward, in a deal which is reportedly worth €41 million.

Roma had reached an agreement with Bordeaux to sign the 21-year-old, subject to the player completing a medical and agreeing personal terms with the Italian club.

"The player will sign with the Club for the next five seasons, until the end of the 2022/23 season".

Malcom was reportedly ready to board a flight to Rome on Monday, before Barcelona hijacked his deal at the 11 hour.

Fernando Garcia, Malcom's agent, met with the Catalan club to thrash out the final details as the contracts were quickly drawn up ahead of Tuesday's announcement.

The La Liga champions had previously made reported bids of upto £55 million to sign Willian but when Chelsea rejected their bid they looked elsewhere and moved for Malcom.

His signing leaves Ernesto Valverde's side well stocked across the forward line with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele and now Malcom all competing for a place in the attack.

The Spanish champions have also brought in central midfielder Arthur from Grêmio for a reported £35.5m, and French defender Clément Lenglet from Sevilla for £31m.
