Trump lashes out at Cohen over hush money tape

In the recording, Cohen tells Trump "we'll have to pay", and the then-presidential candidate responds, "Pay with cash".

Trump denies the affair ever happened and his campaign had said he knew nothing about the payment. Russian operatives' knowledge of Trump's sex life, of a list of accusers and of payoffs, would be powerful leverage for Moscow.

While Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani continues to insist that the president never made the hush payment and that the tape does not reveal any wrongdoing, lawmakers and ethics experts argued that the newly released audio provides evidence of a serious campaign finance violation, which was committed in the service of squashing an embarrassing pre-election story.

Trump interrupts Cohen asking, "What financing?" according to the recording. The truth is that when Donald Trump said 'cash, ' which Rudy Giuliani knows that only drug dealers and mobsters talk about cash, it was, you heard Michael Cohen. say what?

Cohen is heard telling Trump he plans to set up a company to purchase the rights of the story from American Media, which publishes the National Enquirer.

Davis pointed out that the tape shows Trump lied about knowing about the Karen McDougal deal.

Trump asks for more information and Cohen tells him, "We'll have to pay".

Cohen has now turned on Trump, CNN adds: '[Newly hired Michael Cohen lawyer Lanny] Davis, in an interview with Cuomo following the playing of the tape, made very clear that Cohen had now broken free of his oft-pledged total loyalty to Trump and was now looking out for himself and his own interests. David Pecker, the chairman of the National Enquirer's parent company, is a friend of Donald Trump's. Trump lashed out Wednesday morning over the release of the tape.

Federal prosecutors in NY are investigating Cohen for possible bank and tax fraud, and for possible campaign law violations linked to a $130,000 payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels and other matters related to Trump's campaign, a person familiar with the investigation has told Reuters.

They also spoke about election issues such as polling numbers and Trump surrogate Pastor Mark Burns.

Seems kind of silly to worry about what channel [Melania Trump] watches on TV (any channel she wants btw) or if she heard some recording on the news.

There has been no comment from President Trump at this time.

Giuliani said the conversation was held at Trump's office in Trump Tower and that Cohen used a hidden device to record the conversation.
