NIKE, Jordan Brand To Cut Ties With Kawhi Leonard

He had injury problems last season which lead to him and the Spurs organization struggling to figure out a solution to the problem.

Several NBA players have ripped the Toronto Raptors for showing no loyalty to DeMar DeRozan by trading him to the San Antonio Spurs for Kawhi Leonard, but one National Hockey League player has a totally different outlook on the situation. But he appeared in just nine games for San Antonio last season because of an injured right quad.

Reacting to a report from the "San Antonio Express-News, ' 'ESPN's" Michael C. Wright said Leonard could have avoided his rift with the Spurs had he spoken up about his issues during the 2016 All-Star Weekend. "(It says) slight strain, take a couple weeks off. After some time, it healed.

"They did everything they could, but I think it would have been nice to see a specialist, just to see if there was another angle, another view", Green said of the Spurs' training staff. Some days would be good. They've always been great to me.

"When I hear him talk about the bitterness and the disrespect and all that type of stuff, it's like, you didn't get traded to frickin' Cleveland".

Team USA is coached by Gregg Popovich.

Other All-Stars that will be sneaker free agents leading into the 2018-19 season include Philadelphia Sixers big man Joel Embiid, who is now with Adidas, as well as Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward and Golden State Warriors center, DeMarcus Cousins, both of whom now rep for Nike.

Leonard was dealt to Toronto along with shooting guard Danny Green. Reports began emerging of "discord" between the two-time National Basketball Association defensive player of the year and the Spurs, and while Popovich scoffed at talk of a rare "soap opera" involving his normally drama-free squad, it wasn't long before National Basketball Association insiders were claiming that some of Leonard's teammates were expressing frustration with him and imploring him to return to the lineup.

Leonard played a major role in helping the franchise secure its fifth championship in 2014 and was named as the Finals MVP.
