Investigators have also canvassed neighborhoods and conducted dozens of interviews.

By Thursday afternoon search teams were back in the area, combing the nearby fields for any trace of the missing girl, according to Fox News.

Tibbetts' disappearance has baffled investigators since she went missing more than two weeks ago. "They've put together a very sophisticated investigation", he said of the police.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation told KCCI that the agency weas aware of the possible sighting and was investigating it, but they gave no indication of whether they think it's legitimate or not.

Kevin Winker, director of investigative operations at the Iowa Department of Public Safety, refused to say whether they've identified any suspects in the ongoing case.

And the family's plea now comes with a large reward: $172,000 for information leading to Tibbetts' safe return, the family announced Thursday.

On Thursday, Mollie Tibbetts' family and Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa held a press conference encouraging the public to make use of the reward fund. Crime Stoppers emphasized that it has set up an anonymous tipline, and anyone using that tipline to send in information that brings her home will be able to receive the reward anonymously. Winker says investigators are pursuing every possible lead but haven't determined why Tibbetts went missing on July 18. He said investigators told him she was doing homework on her computer later that evening.

The family also praised law enforcement efforts as well as national and global media coverage that has kept Tibbetts' disappearance in the public consciousness. Officials continue to search for her. "We believe that Mollie is still alive, and if someone has abducted her, we are pleading with you to please release her", she said.

"Everyday I feel Mollie's presence with me".

"It is our greatest hope that if someone has her, they will just release her", the emotional mother continued. She called Tibbetts an "incredibly strong woman".
