Five-star Liverpool run riot in Napoli win

And Alisson's teammates already realise just how important he can be in this department.

The Brazilian goalkeeper, the most expensive 'keeper in history, is undoubtedly a significant upgrade on both Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet.

Belgian forward Dries Mertens has not yet returned to training after helping his national team clinch third place in the World Cup.

"Step by step, they are all coming back and it's the best news".

Liverpool face West Ham United in their first league fixture on August 12.

Alisson is set to make his Liverpool debut today against Napoli and the club has confirmed that the goalkeeper will provisionally wear the no.13 against the Calcio A outfit.

The Reds took the lead through Milner's fourth-minute rasping shot before Wijnaldum's header made it 2-0 inside 10 minutes.

The interplay between the front-three was also impressive.

With the 25-year-old returning to training at the end of last week, Klopp says he is ready to pull on a Liverpool jersey for the first time in Dublin this weekend. He and Fabinho come in to fortify a midfield that will be without Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for at least the rest of this calendar year because of the England player's serious ligament damage, sustained in April.

And clinical second-half strikes from Mohamed Salah and substitute duo Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno ensured Jürgen Klopp's side's dominance of proceedings was reflected accurately on the scoreboard.

Liverpool: Alisson 6, Clyne 6, Gomez 6, Van Dijk 6, Robertson 6, Wiljnaldum 7, Milner 7, Keita 7, Salah 8, Mane 7, Firmino 7.

Xherdan Shaqiri, who came on for Firmino at half-time, was heavily involved as he latched onto Mane's pass and stood a cross up towards Salah, who found a pocket of space in the box and sent an unstoppable curler beyond Orestis Karnezis.

Of course, it was only a pre-season friendly, against a team who look like they're just back from their summer holidays, but the signs are good for Klopp's team ahead of the new season.
