Unai Emery shares who will start in goal for Arsenal against Chelsea

Unai Emery has confirmed that Petr Cech will keep his place in goal for the trip to his former club Chelsea tomorrow, despite criticism that he fails to fit into the new Arsenal head coach's style of play. "We are going to play away but we need to keep our personality, keep our mentality, because I think on Sunday against Manchester City, the team kept their ideas, kept their spirit in the game for the full 90 minutes, even when we were losing, and didn't let [their heads] go down".

Emery signed Bernd Leno in the summer for £22m, but Cech retained his starting role for the new manager's first league match in charge of Arsenal.

'I am very happy with his [Cech's] performance.

"We want the competition between the goalkeepers and also every player in the squad", said the Spaniard. "He has experience, he has quality, he has the capacity", he added.

In my opinion Arsenal player should believe in their new coach and should strictly follow his system and French global Alexandre lacazette and Granit Xhaka must improve to make a case for a place in the starting eleven under Emery.

Impressive stuff, but will it be enough for him to earn a start on Saturday? Cech now has some serious competition in goal behind him, with former Bayer Leverkusen star Bernd Leno waiting in the wings. But a string of bad performances, ones that put Arsenal behind the eight ball in terms of getting back to the top four, could see Leno take Cech's spot permanently. "I want to continue the process to build our team".

In other Arsenal news, starting left back Ainsley Maitland-Niles suffered a fractured left leg against Manchester City, which will keep him out for six to eight weeks.

"We want a good preparation before and a good response on the pitch to that preparation".

Chelsea have only one injury concern and that is Cesc Fabregas, who is a major doubt after suffering a knee injury against Arsenal in pre-season.

One problem area for Emery may be solved by the return of Nacho Monreal at left-back.
