Maurizio Sarri hits back at Napoli chairman's criticism - 'He is missing me'

Chelsea will be looking to maintain their winning start to the new season when they take on Newcastle United at St James' Park on Sunday afternoon.

It will also see Sarri face off with his Napoli predecessor, Rafa Benitez, who was interim Chelsea manager, where he won the Europa League in the 2012/13 season. "I've spoken with him twice this week after I spoke to the club, I think Loftus will remain with us, we can speak again about his situation but only in December". But when he has a team like Napoli that was doing well, he was playing well and he was close, he was close.

"The ambition has to be to win every single match, every single competition, this is Chelsea we can't think in a different way but we also have to have humility to understand we're at the beginning of a new philosophy, so we start day-by-day every single week".

Sarri inherited a side at Stamford Bridge which under-achieved last season under Antonio Conte as they attempted to defend the Premier League title at the same time as Newcastle were battling to re-establish themselves in the top flight in the wake of promotion.

"The most important thing is the way we play now". He added,"I respect Guardiola as a man and a coach, for me, he is the best in the world now". I think I am the coach of a very good team, a very great club, so I think it's so important for him to not be sold without the possibility to buy another important player of the same level, so I think Eden will stay with us for all the season.

Asked if he felt De Laurentiis' criticism is fair, Sarri said with a smile: "I don't know. And I think that, if the team enjoy the game, they've have a lot of opportunities to win the match".

After coming off an inconsistent season, Spain global Alvaro Morata hopes that this Premier League campaign will be different and insists he is enjoying his football under his new manager. I usually look at the training and then I decide.
