‘Game of Thrones’ unveils first footage from final season

Yet if this is the case, fans will have much longer to wait before the likes of Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) grace screens once more.

HBO revealed the first footage of the final season of their megahit fantasy show when they rolled out a compilation video of the shows to look for in 2019.

"So we'll still have quite a lot to do on season eight when they're beginning".

"Game of Thrones" got a short preview in HBO's 2019 lineup of teasers.

Other shows teased in the sizzle reel include the second seasons of Barry, Big Little Lies, The Deuce and Room 104.

The reunion will be welcomed by Thrones fans, as Sansa and Arya Stark both met up after seasons apart in the last batch of episodes.

Following that, the HBO programming chief also said the Game of Thrones final season will air the first half of 2019.

Still freaking out over Sharp Objects?

Created by David Benioff and DB Weiss, Game of Thrones has won a record 38 Emmy awards since its 2011 premiere.

Bauer was referring to Emmy consideration, with a May 31 cut-off date to be eligible for an award at the 2019 telecast. "I know I'm not doing anything else but 'Thrones' until May of next year". But the prequel is starting to shoot in February, at least the pilot.

The footage is quick, but you can finally see Streep in her wig she was seen sporting in photos from the set. We have you covered.
One notable scene shows Jon Snow returning to Winterfell after escaping the battle with the Night King and making love to his estranged aunt (hey, this is Game of Thrones we're talking about). The sweetness (aside from Sansa's steely glare) starts at 1:10 with the caption "Final Season".
