Bears trading at least 2 1st-round picks for Khalil Mack

Bears trading at least 2 1st-round picks for Khalil Mack

The Khalil Mack saga has wound its way to a close with the Chicago Bears stepping up to make the offer that made the Oakland Raiders ship out their best player.

Mack was selected by the Raiders with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2014 National Football League draft.

Pittsburgh could have packaged two first-round picks and linebacker Bud Dupree for Mack and matched something similar to what is being reported about the trade. Green Bay has two first-round picks in the 2019 draft and millions in cap space in future years.

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Raiders and Mack are "essentially nowhere" in their talks with just over a week to go before the start of the regular season.

Also passing along the consistent company line is The Athletic's Vic Tafur, who has remained adamant for months that the Raiders are not going to trade Mack.

NFL Media's Mike Silver says owner Mark Davis is not too interested in trading Mack while Gruden is open to it.

The All-Pro edge rusher has been holding out during the preseason in hopes of landing a lucrative contract extension with the Oakland Raiders. We've got to get a better pass rush, we've got to play better defense, period.

The truth of the matter is the Bears should've never been in this predicament.
