Hazard is now the Premier League's leading scorer, and Chelsea have been the league's most prolific team.

In constraining Hazard as the game went on, West Ham may have created the blueprint for frustrating Chelsea and "Sarriball" this season. It is impossible to win every match.

Substitute Alvaro Morata had a great opportunity to score for Chelsea on 66 minutes but his effort was blocked by the face of Lukasz Fabianski.

The Germany worldwide joins Pedro Rodriguez on the sidelines, but the Chelsea head coach is hopeful of being able to call upon both when Liverpool visit Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Saturday.

"I don't know why they lost their first four matches in the Premier League".

He added: "They (West Ham) are a good team, now with confidence when they won away at Everton".

Portuguese global Joao Moutinho is one of Mendes's many clients to arrive at Molineux and curled his first goal for the club into the top corner to earn a deserved point.

Pedro was Chelsea's only significant absentee, thanks to the shoulder injury he picked up in the final seconds of the midweek win over PAOK, but he was missed.

The London-born teenager is eligible to play for both Ireland and England, and despite three senior appearances with the Republic of Ireland, he has not yet been tied down to the country.

As the sun came out at the London Stadium, Chelsea again established control and almost took the lead when N'Golo Kante headed wide.

The second half was a textbook containment job on Hazard, one which drastically changed his afternoon. In the last two or three matches we've done very well.

Manuel Pellegrini's Hammers stood firm in an ultra-defensive shape that frustrated the likes of Eden Hazard, Olivier Giroud and Willian. Asked if his star player had done so against West Ham, the Italian said: "Not in the first half".

It would probably be slightly misguided for West Ham to go all out attack, but hopefully they'll commit men forward when they get the chance, and that should make for a decent game. 'They have one day's rest more than us and I want to see the picture of the situation when we train tomorrow'.
