City’s Aguero a doubt for crunch game against Liverpool

City’s Aguero a doubt for crunch game against Liverpool

City's manager denied there was any disciplinary problem with Mendy, who has a foot injury, but said: "He arrived late, and that shouldn't happen but it does sometimes".

Mendy, 24, attended world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua's victory over Alexander Povetkin at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night.

Guardiola tried to lessen Mendy's transgression by claiming that traffic congestion in Manchester has been a problem for a number of his players recently.

"They know exactly what they have to do. they are really well organised in the back four".

City moved level on points with Liverpool after their win over Brighton, which saw them move to the top of the Premier League. Manchester is under construction, the players arrive late.

And after the match, Guardiola said Aguero is not guaranteed to feature in the Champions League against Hoffenheim or at Liverpool next week. They have to drop their kids at school.they should be here and he knows it.

'I haven't spoken about that with Txiki, ' he said.

"People maybe did not expect him to play today - but he played really well in the last game and deserved to play again".

Even with a makeshift left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko deputising for the injured Benjamin Mendy, they dominated the opening 29 minutes without reward, Aguero and Leroy Sane going close.

He also announced that the recovery of Kevin De Bruyne is right on track and that the Belgian footballer will rejoin the team's training in the coming days with a return expected in about a month. What I want is to be focused and that is the main thing, apart from their families the most important thing in life is to be every single day what you have to do.

"He has to make his own career".

Foden is out of contract in 2020 although talks have opened over an extended deal.

Although no specification to what kind of trouble this is has been forthcoming, it is clear that the French full back, for all of his undoubted potential, may not last at the club much longer if changes to his approach are not made.
