Earl Thomas Broke His Leg and Maybe the Entire NFL

Earl Thomas Broke His Leg and Maybe the Entire NFL

The Seahawks, who lost star safety Earl Thomas to a leg injury in the fourth quarter, are 2-2.

As Emmanuel Acho pointed out (along with a number of other current and past players), this is exactly why Thomas was holding out in the first place earlier this year - he knew it was very possible for him to get injured and therefore not get paid. This was an earth-shattering moment for the kid. Carroll said the team could call up one or both practice squad tight ends - Darrell Daniels and Marcus Lucas - and he said Ed Dickson will be ready to go when he is eligible to come off the Non-Football Injury list following the sixth games against the Raiders.

His frustration boiled over as Thomas was being carted off the field and he gave the middle finger while he left - to his own bench. Thomas, though, may never play another down in a Seahawks uniform. "So I don't know what happened after that".

"Give him a little slack", Carroll continued. This is a very, very hard moment that most people would never understand what it's about, " Carroll said. Thomas and Bell, for the record, are the outliers: high-profile talents who can sit out, garner media coverage, and still slide back into the game if they so choose. The catch resulted in a touchdown, and Thomas' lower leg collides with Willaims as he hops over the receiver in the end zone.

Seattle, who's original asking price was reportedly two second-round draft picks, lowered their price to one second-rounder, per Rapoport.

Thomas, a three-time All-Pro, held out at the start of training camp before returning a week before the season despite not being granted an extension.

"I think when you become that narcissistic and it's all about you, you forget the hundreds that are in line behind you that want that job", Brock said.

Several players and coaches have expressed how much Thomas will be missed. Linebacker K.J. Wright could still be out a couple more weeks as he continues to recover from arthroscopic knee surgery he had in late August.
