Brewers top the Tigers 11-0

NL home run champion Nolan Arenado and the Rockies (91-72) had won nine of 10 before getting shut down by rookie Walker Buehler in a 5-2 loss on Monday. The Brewers won the division for the first time since 2011, with a 3 to 1 victory over the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central tiebreaker game Monday night.

Milwaukee and Chicago each have two games remaining as they battle for the division.

The Brewers looked as if they had a crucial win locked up in the top of eighth with normally lights-out reliever Josh Hader on to pitch with a two-run lead.

This story will be updated.

"We're a team that relies on our bullpen", Brewers manager Craig Counsell said.

As for the rules governing the extra contests, they'll be the same as for all other games in September.

Quintana pitched around six hits in five innings, twice stranding a baserunner in scoring position.

"It's going to come down to execution like it has all year", said Yelich, who is batting.175 with 16 strikeouts, no home runs and five RBIs in 15 games against the Cubs this season.

"We know that", Yelich said. "This team enjoys playing on the big stage". They did so in the third after two outs, on a double by Daniel Murphy, a triple by Ben Zobrist, a walk to Javy Baez and Rizzo's triple. Orlando Arcia went 4-4 at the plate, while the National League MVP Christian Yelich added three hits of his own to lift Milwaukee past the Cubs in a tiebreaker game at Wrigley Field.

The Rockies face the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday in a National League Wild Card.

The victor will wind up with home-field advantage through the entirety of the National League playoffs, while the loser will have to participate in what is essentially a play-in game on Wednesday, and risk missing out on the NLDS with a Wild Card loss.

"To win the game and get a couple days off, to host the Division Series is very important", he said. He's 0-1 with a 2.61 ERA in those starts. The Brewers haven't announced their starter.

The Dodgers and Rockies were both at 90-71 entering Sunday, while the Cubs and Brewers were deadlocked at 94-67.

Freeland (17-7) finished with a 2.85 ERA overall this season.
