Pep Guardiola confirms shock team news ahead of Liverpool clash

If Liverpool win it'll give Klopp, the fans and the players belief that they could snatch the Citizens' crown away from them.

Indeed, Liverpool FC can hoist themselves to the top of the Premier League table and move three points ahead of the Eastlands outfit if Jurgen Klopp's side win.

Former England star, Michael Owen, has predicted the scoreline of the Premier League game between Manchester City and Liverpool.

"They are so strong", said Klopp.

"Even if they'd lost I'd say it was a good performance, but Napoli worries me". He has transformed them into a title contenders this season. he is also well known for his passionate celebrations at the touchline, his own philosophy for the game.

"They're an aggressive team, they're doing well".

Despite reports of Guardiola punishing the 24-year-old for being late to training earlier this week, Mendy has complimented his boss on his progress with the Premier League champions.

"Yes, he had better teams, that is true, more experienced, Bayern, Barcelona, we don't have to talk about that". However, Liverpool has enjoyed dominance over the defending Premier League champions in the recent past and who will win the upcoming fixture is anybody's guess. "We hope we can finish that (unbeaten) run".

They will meet again at Anfield on Sunday as Liverpool look to secure their fourth successive win over City, who now sit of the table.

The pair's fierce but amicable rivalry stretches back to 2013 when Guardiola was in charge at Bayern Munich and Klopp was at Borussia Dortmund.

The managers have faced each other 14 times in their careers, with Klopp winning eight of those meetings as manager of Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund.

Guardiola praised the quality of the Egyptian but claimed he would need to prove himself for a number of years before being held to the same standard as Aguero. "I've said it a few times and I can say it again: I really think the most important thing, the most important job of football, is entertaining the people, because it is only football and nothing else".

"He's an excellent manager".

"I have a lot of respect for the way they play, how proactive are his teams are".
