Giants vs. Panthers Player of the Game: Saquon Barkley

Carolina Panthers safety Eric Reid took a knee during the playing of the national anthem prior to Sunday's game against the New York Giants. Shurmur further got Beckham involved by having him throw a 57-yard touchdown pass to Barkley in the second quarter on a gadget play, and Beckham became the first Giant since Frank Gifford in 1959 to both throw and catch a touchdown in a game. Latimer has the longest passing play of the season for the G-Men when he hauled 37-yard yard pass against the Cowboys.

After blasting his team earlier this week, New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. could be on the receiving end of criticism now after his bad mistake led to a Carolina Panthers touchdown.

He broke four on his 18-yard carry, a reverse pitched to him by actual running back Christian McCaffrey.

After he converted the kick he said his main goal was seeking safety from the rest of his teammates running after him. Beckham said, taking issue with the depths of the throws, too.

"I haven't heard anything", he said after throwing two late touchdowns and two interceptions in the loss.

Following is everything you need related to all things Panthers and Giants as the regular season continues. If it took that for us to come together as a team like we did [Sunday].

Instead of fielding Michael Palardy's punt at his 5, Beckham went to block a Carolina player. This game has the potential to be much closer than its spread if the Giants put it all together, yet National Football League oddsmakers do not seem to expect that to happen here in Week 5. "When your team has an 11-point lead, defensively we should finish games, and we didn't do a great job doing that". I remember before games, I used to get that. But Carolina's second touchdown is as embarrassing as it gets.

Reid was the first player to kneel alongside Colin Kaepernick during the anthem in protest of social injustice. He was the first Panthers player ever to kneel during the national anthem. "I was thinking to myself, I hope he was and is as excited as everyone is having him".

Giants: Right tackle Chad Wheeler left in the fourth quarter with a hand injury and did not return.

But when asked what Reid might or might not do before Sunday's game against the Giants, Newton said Wednesday: "I can't speak on, and I won't speak on anything other than him being here as a Carolina Panther".
