Drew Brees has done it: NFL's all-time passing leader wears #9

The Saints quarterback is one of the classiest and most well-respected players in the league so I can safely say this couldn't have happened to a better person. With 2:46 left in the second quarter, Brees connected with wide receiver Tre'Quan Smith on a 62-yard touchdown pass to eclipse Manning for the all-time record.

Brees surpassed Peyton Manning's previous record of 71,940 yards with that touchdown connection, and it was a pretty special moment to behold in New Orleans.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has added another record to his trophy case. Brees was fourth on the list heading into Monday night at 496.

In a victory at Atlanta earlier this season, Brees broke Brett Favre's career record of 6,300 completions.

Drew Brees became the NFL's all-time leader in yards passing - and he did it with a certain panache and precision that made the 39-year-old quarterback look far from finished.

Naturally, plenty of sports figures took to social media to congratulate Brees on Monday night.

Brees is in his 18th season out of Purdue. Yards, as you all know, cannot necessarily mean winning games. "Credit to him for playing as long as he has, at such a high level". "I've gotta tell ya, it's been the greatest 1,000 days of my life", Manning says in the video. Behind three touchdowns from Brees, New Orleans cruised to a 43-19 win over the Washington Redskins.
