Xbox's October 2018 Update Rolls Out With New Avatars and More

That said, you'll need to do not forget to enable the skill in your Amazon app before you start, and then link your Microsoft and Amazon accounts together so Alexa can locate and control your console. The latest system update brings several new features such as the redesigned Xbox Live Avatars, which were initially announced a year ago. The new Xbox Avatars support a range of different body types, with clothing created to fit them all. You'll also find Avatars on activity feed posts, Friend blocks on the Home screen, Gamerscore leaderboards, club headers, profile comparisons, and more. You can now chose to keep your old avatar, but it's unclear if this will be the case forever. This feature allows supported TVs to deliver enhanced HDR images, and is now supported by the Netflix app for Xbox. Xbox Avatars never quite caught on like the Nintendo's Mii avatars did, but they were popular enough on Xbox 360 to prompt the team to enhance them for the next generation console.

Dolby Vision video streaming is headed to Xbox One, offering HDR video streaming support across Xbox One S and Xbox One X. Support on more apps will come in the following months. Remember, Windows 10 runs on thousands of different configurations, while Xbox One consists of just three.

Xbox is committed to being more accessible and inclusive.

Finally, five new languages have been added to Narrator on Xbox One: Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Swedish, and Dutch. While it's not exactly a new language, the firm also added Australian English.
