Luke Shaw doubtful for England duty

The Leicester City defender made his worldwide debut last month but had returned to the under-21 set-up prior to the news that Shaw, injured in Manchester United's win over Newcastle United, would not be fit to feature in the upcoming UEFA Nations League double-header.

England have brought Leicester defender Ben Chilwell into the squad for the Nations League double header after Luke Shaw withdrew because of injury.

Chilwell made his Leicester debut in October 2015 and after a loan spell as Huddersfield in 2015-16 has established himself as the regular left-back at King Power Stadium.

Rose had a scan on Monday and is being monitored by the FA's medical staff, but is reportedly keen to remain with the squad even if he has no chance of playing.

"Shaw reported to St. George's Park on Monday afternoon along with the rest of Gareth Southgate's squad but has now returned to Manchester United after being ruled out through injury".

On the other hand, Southgate is set to hand Brighton captain and defender Lewis Dunk his first senior England call-up in the coming weeks in place of Burnley defender James Tarkowski.

England play away in Croatia on Friday before travelling to Seville to face Spain in another tough-looking fixture three days later.
