Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei unveiled its latest smartphones the Mate 20 Series, which include the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 RS, and Mate 20 X, on October 16 in London.

Huawei went on the call the Mate 20 X "the best portable gaming machine" out there, and while those specs might've turned a few heads, the powerful smartphone comes with more than a few caveats.

The Mate 20 RS has almost identical specs to the Mate 20 Pro but swaps 6GB of RAM for 8GB and starts storage options at 256GB. It measures 6.39-inches in diagonal and it is a curved OLED screen with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Huawei has built its own version of the iPhone's Face ID, and it's gone further by also implementing a fingerprint sensor into the Mate 20 Pro's display, which the iPhone lacks.

The Mate 20 Pro X, on the other hand, is more of a phablet device.

Going hands-on with the Mate 20 Pro, The Verge found the device to be quite impressive, starting with its HDR-enabled 2960 x 1440 OLED display. The phone is expected to retain the 3.5mm headphone jack, unlike the Mate 20 Pro.

The Huawei Mate 20 runs Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9.0 on top.

In terms of optics, the Huawei Mate 20 sports a Leica triple rear camera setup. The notch only fits the front camera, which sits right under the speaker. The Mate 20 Pro, meanwhile, has a 40-megapixel wide angle, 20-megapixel super wide angle, and 8-megapixel telephoto lenses. To recall, the Mate 20 Pro comes with a price tag of €1050, which roughly translate to Rs 88,767.

The Mate 20 phones aren't as generous when it comes to storage options, but they support expandable storage of up to 256GB. With the Mate 20 Pro, consumers will now be getting a 4200mAh battery which should be the biggest battery we've seen on a high end flagship device. The leaked images show a smaller, waterdrop-style notch and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The phone featured with the same triple camera sensors on the back side but different lens size. The wireless charging feature also supports wireless reverse charging. Considering the fact that Huawei's previously released premium phone, the P20 Pro sells for Rs.64,999 in India and this is a price sensitive market, we are quite sure that it will be offered at a reduced price in the country.

If battery is what you need, the phone includes a 40W supercharge battery.

At launch, the standard Mate 20 model will be available in Black and Blue while the Mate 20 Pro will come in Black, Green, and Twilight.

The series offers a range of sizes: 6.53-inch, 6.39-inch and 7.2-inch. Huawei Mate 20 RS Porsche Design houses a 4,200mAh battery.

The Mate 20 is not as feature packed as the Mate 20 Pro but boasts some excellent hardware nonetheless.
