Young Windies squad for three T20IS against India

In Cricket, the first Twenty-20 global of the 3-match series between India and the West Indies will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata this evening.

In the spin department, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav will look to continue their chemistry, and India have also named uncapped Krunal Pandya and Shahbaz Nadeem, who returned with a record List A figures of 8/10 for Jharkhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Moreover, the visitors have been bolstered by the return of Keiron Pollard, Darren Bravo, Andre Russel and Carlos Brathwaite.

After losing the Test and the ODI series, West Indies are all set to challenge the hosts in a format wherein they have found a lot of success.

West Indies have suffered a major blow as they will be missing their all-rounder, Andre Russell.

Captaincy seems to bring out the best in Sharma who notched up 317 runs (average 105.66) in five innings in their title-winning campaign at the Asia Cup.

Although according to regular skipper Virat Kohli, who has also opted out of the series, Dhoni remains an integral part of India's plans, it is widely believed that the 37-year old is being phased out owing to his poor run since the turn of the year.

Here's a look at the predicted playing XIs of both teams.

. Immensely popular here, he will be badly missed by the fans.

Debutant Oshane Thomas and Carlos Brathwaite had rocked India, chasing 110 for their first T20 win against West Indies in four years, with some express stuff on a wicket that aided such bowling. Pant will be taking his position behind the stumps, while his senior Dinesh Karthik will be adding strength to the team's middle-order.

It was a ideal scenario for the aggressive wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant as he had ample time in the middle to play a match-winning knock and justify his inclusion in the side.

This will also be an occasion for all-rounder Krunal Pandya to showcase his talents.

Twenty-four hours ahead of the match, BCCI announced a 12-member squad for the game which had Krunal Pandya in it. Pandya is in line to make his debut for the national team.
