Helicopter crash kills couple on wedding day

A pair of newlyweds were killed early Sunday morning when the helicopter that carried them from their wedding crashed in northwest Uvalde County, Texas.

Bailee Ackerman and William Byler were married Saturday, before being whisked off to a ranch near Uvalde, Tex.

"It is with deepest sadness that we announce the tragic passing of two Bearkats: Will Byler (Agriculture Engineering senior) & Bailee Ackerman Byler (Ag Comm senior) in a helicopter accident departing their wedding".

The National Transportation Safety Board reported on Twitter that they're investigating the crash.

The Houstonian student newspaper reports that the newlyweds were seniors at Sam Houston State University.

According to the couple's wedding website, nuptials were Saturday at the ranch in Uvalde, which is about 85 miles west of San Antonio. Their helicopter reportedly crashed just north of Uvalde.

People in the couple's community took to Facebook to share their condolences and remember the couple by posting photos of their engagement. "I am in awe of you, Will Byler, and I hope that everyone gets to experience a love like the one we have".

The San Antonio Fire Department deployed 10 members of its technical rescue team to assist the Federal Aviation Administration with the investigation, but they returned to San Antonio on Sunday night, according to KSAT news.

"I love them both so dearly and they will always be so special to me", she said.
