NYPD looking to return engagement ring found in Times Square

A man was doing just that at the United States city's popular tourist landmark and dropped the ring he used to propose to his fiancee.

The couple asked local police officers for help.

The emergency services were unable to find it and the would-be bride and groom gave up.

It fell about 2.4 metres, police said.

The woman is blond, and the man is brown-haired and bearded and wearing a gray cap.

The female is a 5ft5in blonde.

After seeing the footage officers managed to rescue the ring, clean it up and now want to find its owners.

The NYPD then posted a video on Twitter with the caption: 'WANTED for dropping his fiancée's ring in Times Square!'

They also released a picture of the dropped jewellery, saying: "We have your ring!".

Unfortunately for the couple, the NYPD does not have the couple's details, therefore it can't reunite them with the ring.

The New Year's Eve celebrations in Times Square attract over a million visitors from the US and around the world every year.
