Man tried to pay for McDonald’s with bag of marijuana, police say

A man who was apparently short on cash is facing charges after police say he offered marijuana in exchange for food at a McDonald's drive-through window.

Police were alerted to Gallagher's offer early Sunday morning and got a description of him from the worker.

Lucie Police Department says Anthony Andrew Gallagher's barter request was denied by the employee and he drove off. The suspect returned and again went through the drive-through.

Although it is unclear if Gallagher tried paying for his food in weed the second time, authorities were already tipped off and confirmed that he fit the description. He was taken to Lucie County Jail for booking.

Police say they noticed a heavy order of marijuana emitting from the auto and found approximately 11 grams of marijuana on Gallagher.

When police questioned him about what happened, Gallagher admitted to offering marijuana in exchange for food, but he said he did so as a joke. The man was allegedly found with about 11 grams of marijuana in the auto.

The suspect was arrested for possession of marijuana under 20 grams and DUI.
