7-Year-Old Girl Shot, Killed In Houston Drive-By

"So senseless. It's never easy, and extra hard during the holiday season", Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted on December 30.

"You should have a heart and step forward and say you did this to this baby because she did not deserve what you did to her".

"He intentionally killed my child for no reason", she said.

She explained, "As I turned around and looked back at the street, I heard shots start firing and they came through my window, broke my glass, and hit me in my arm".

"They sped off in front of us and the truck slowed down and continued to fire as he was in front of us".

The two others in the vehicle were not injured.

Authorities are asking Houston-area residents to review video surveillance for any images of a pickup whose driver they say fired into a auto carrying a family, killing a 7-year-old girl and wounding the child's mother.

Washington said one of her daughters discovered Jazmine had been shot. The mother, 30-year-old LaPorsha Washington, remained in a hospital Monday. Washington revealed that she heard shots ringing out before her auto was hit.

"He took away an innocent child and she didn't deserve this at all", Washington said, " We did not deserve this. "We're extremely upset by this, and I know that our community shares those sentiments as well". "But we did not deserve anything that this man did to us".

The image of the red, four-door pickup was captured shortly before the shooting occurred Sunday morning, Harris County sheriff's Lt. Christopher Sandoval told reporters.

Authorities are still searching for the gunman, described as a bearded white man, possibly in his 40s.

Investigators say they have an image from surveillance video of a pickup whose driver fired several shots into a auto carrying a family, killing a 7-year-old girl and wounding the child's mother.
