Shot-shy Palace crash to derby defeat - Crystal Palace

In a turgid game, Roy Hodgson's side failed to record a single shot on target as they were unable to score for a second successive game.

The Blues could have been forgiven for thinking the trip to Selhurst Park could be a banana skin and a tricky test to overcome, but if they did think that it did not show on the pitch, as they displayed a confidence and an assurance that saw them ease to victory.

It's the prayer of every manager that their players remain fit during the busy festive season as they will definitely need to shuffle their starting lineup.

The former England boss added: "He's someone with the profile we're looking for, and the ability we are looking for".

"We could have scored early but they also did a great match defensively, which is why it was so hard", Chelsea's Luiz told reporters. We know him better from the England games, and the performances with England.

Speaking after the match, via Sky Sports, Sarri offered praise for the goalscorer, and said: "I think that it was a very good movement (for the goal, from Kanté) and with the right timing".

The Blues thought they had opened the scoring when Olivier Giroud fired in the net but the linesman flagged for offside.

As far as Christian Pulisic is concerned, however, there seems to be a very mixed message concerning his future with some outlets claiming he's agreed and signed personal terms with Chelsea while others say the race to sign him is still on. Yesterday [Saturday], in 10 minutes we had three injuries - Fabregas, [Loftus-Cheek] and [Danny] Drinkwater - then Giroud, and we were already without Pedro and [Hudson-Odoi]. Fabregas has a neck problem. "The injury was in the last five minutes of training, so I'm not sure whether he has to rest for two or 10 days". We moved the ball very well and fast, especially in the second half. "In the second half, for 40 minutes, we moved the ball better".

"The only thing I didn't like is that we didn't kill the match off", added the Italian.
