Golden Globes: Bohemian Rhapsody wins best drama Globe

Rami Malek, who won best drama actor for his role as late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in 20th Century Fox film "Bohemian Rhapsody", dedicated his award to the British singer, who died of AIDS in 1991.

"Bohemian Rhapsody" won and Rami Malek won the best dramatic award for his turn as the music group Queen's front man Freddie Mercury in "Bohemian Rhapsody". The Mexican movie, which also took the prize for best director, is seen as an Oscar frontrunner in February. "Thank you to Satan for giving me the inspiration on how to play this role", he joked.

"You have been my ally, my confidant, you are my love. This is for you, gorgeous".

In the acting categories, Glenn Close (The Wife) bested the favourite Lady Gaga on the drama side.

It was more or less assumed that A Star is Born was going to win everything at this year's Golden Globes. "I'm kind of really gob-smacked by this, " said Burnett.

The awards were hosted by actors Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg, who opened the ceremony with a comedy skit.

Malek not only received praise from the entertainment industry for his role but also from members in Queen.

There were deserved wins for Mahershala Ali for Green Book, a true story of race in America in the 1960s, and that film was the night's biggest victor.

The traditional Golden Globes red carpet walk featured a number of creations by Arab fashion designers, such as Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad and Reem Acra. "And in her 80s, she said to me: 'I feel like I haven't accomplished anything, ' and it was so not right", she added during the tearful speech.

Christian Bale picked up the award for best actor in a comedy or musical for his portrayal of former US Vice President Dick Cheney in Vice.

Also receiving multiple awards was "Roma", Alfonso Cuaron's affectionate look at his childhood in Mexico City, which won for best foreign film and best director.
