Maurizio Sarri wants to unleash Gonzalo Higuain v Arsenal

The Argentinean global is now on loan at AC Milan from Juve but the striker has struggled to replicate his previous form having scored just once in his last 11 games and it's led to speculation his loan could be cut short.

Chelsea accelerated talks with Juventus and Milan on Wednesday after the two clubs contested the Italian Supercoppa in Jeddah, which Juve won 1-0, after deciding to grant head coach Maurizio Sarri his wish to reunite with the striker he managed to prolific success at Napoli.

Chelsea are hoping to wrap-up a proposed £32m deal for Gonzalo Higuain before the end of the week after AC Milan identified Krzysztof Piatek as his replacement, according to reports.

Speculation about Higuain's future was fuelled by an earlier club photograph with a Saudi prince in which the Argentinian forward was not present.

A potential striker merry-go-around could also see Michy Batshuayi, whose loan agreement with Valencia was terminated last week, join AC Milan this month. If you want to create mess (regarding the Chelsea transfer), I'm not the right person for you in this sense, ' Higuain said. "We spoke to him and his agent".

Initial six-month loan with option to extend for a year.

Morata has struggled to perform for the Blues since his big-money move from Real Madrid and has wasted several glorious opportunities during games.

Paul Merson has questioned Gonzalo Higuain's pedigree to play in a key role in the Premier League ahead of his move to Chelsea.

For the rest of this season at least, the Blues would be silly not to take him on as a quality stop-gap signing in the gaping hole up front that neither Giroud nor Morata are capable of filling.
