Newcastle target double deal for Andreas Samaris and Antonio Barreca

Newcastle target double deal for Andreas Samaris and Antonio Barreca

Newcastle United moved swiftly onto another defensive target following the collapse of the loan deal for Jordan Lukaku.

"First and foremost, we want to thank Miguel for two incredible years with Atlanta United, culminating in winning MLS Cup last season", Atlanta United President Darren Eales said.

"I'm very happy and eager to start and to meet my new team mates", said Almiron.

"Rafa Benitez has also r" have enquired about a loan for Benfica midfielder Andreas Samaris but have competition from Porto.

Presumably, when Mills refers to him as an "unknown" he is simply admitting that he, himself, has absolutely no clue about Almiron and hasn't bothered to do his research about a player with over 130 senior league appearances to his name and top division league titles from the US, Argentina and Paraguay in his trophy cabinet.

Atlanta fans appear to be overwhelmingly supportive of this policy as well and in comments we published earlier, it sounds as though Newcastle United have instantly become the best supported Premier League club in Atlanta.

"I think it is a great responsibility, something attractive for me, and I will try to offer the best I can to repay the trust the club put in me", said the 24-year-old, who twice featured in the MLS All Star team during his time in the United States.

"From talking to the lad, you can tell that he is really focussed and wants to be successful". He had 12 goals and 14 assists in 32 matches in 2018, when he made $2.297 million, according to the MLS Players Association salary database. The attacking midfielder looks set to offer us an extra edge going forward, and we can't wait to see him in Newcastle colours.

Newcastle gawped at the £17.5m price tag and opted to sign Mikel Merino from Borussia Dortmund on a five-year deal, but Merino was sold to Real Sociedad last summer for £10m.
