The Instagram egg's creator has been revealed

Last month, an egg became the most-liked photo on Instagram ever-in just nine days, to boot. Then, over the following weeks, subsequent images of the egg on Instagram showed cracks in the shell.

It looks like the egg marks another addition of the internet realm bleeding over into the "real world", leaving users to ask - what's next?

A voiceover, pegged as coming from the egg, says: "Recently I've started to crack... the pressure of social media is getting to me". The egg has since garnered more than 50 million likes, surpassing then reigning champion Kylie Jenner's almost 19 million.

Fortunately, the indomitable little egg soon pulls itself back together and offers the positive note of "we got this" while sporting a cheerful grin.

But the egg ad wasn't the only big reveal for the social media sensation on Sunday.

It's followed by the words "If you're struggling, talk to someone". Not everyone chooses to #fightintheopen for mental health, but you did for the 1 in 5 Americans living with a mental health condition.

The 29-year-old, who works as an advertising creative at the London-based agency The & Partnership, said he wanted to see if "something as universal and simple as an egg" could surpass the record breaking image of Kylie Jenner's daughter Stormi. According to Eugene's team, mental health is just the first of several causes they hope to get behind.

Speaking with The New York Times, Chris explained how "the younger generation" was seemingly more drawn to the egg.
