K-pop group BTS 'to present award at the Grammys'

BTS fans' dream of seeing the K-pop group on the Grammys stage is finally happening.

Music's biggest night will take place on February 10 at Los Angeles' Staples Center and air live on CBS and streaming on CBS All Access at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT.

Also nominated for the award are St. Vincent's "Masseduction", Mitski's "Be the Cowboy", The Chairman's "The Offering" and Foxhole's "Well Kept Thing". They also became the first K-pop album that reached the No. 1 spot on Billboard's 200 album chart with "Love Yourself: Tear" in 2018.

Newsround has contacted BTS management and the Grammys to confirm the news.

BTS will be appearing at this year's Grammy Awards. The South Korean boyband is said to be gracing the prestigious music event for the first time to hand an award to an unrevealed category's victor. In return, BTS members are expected never to miss the chance to show their love and appreciation to their fans once they hit the Grammy stage.

Variety did not reveal details of the award in its report.

Taylor Swift and Maroon 5 are skipping out on the awards show, which will be hosted by Alicia Keys.

Record of the Year nominees are "I Like It" by Cardi B, Bad Bunny and J Balvin; Brandi Carlile's "The Joke"; Childish Gambino's "This Is America"; "God's Plan" by Drake; Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's "Shallow"; "All The Stars by Kendrick Lamar and SZA; Zedd, Morris and Grey's "The Middle"; and "Rockstar" by Post Malone and 21 Savage".

This year's Grammys will air on CBS on February 10 at 8 p.m.

This year's performers include Dolly Parton, Miley Cyrus, Cardi B, Katy Perry, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabelo, Dan + Shay, Little Big Town, Maren Morris, Kacey Musgrave and Diana Ross, to name a few.
