Rockets acquire Shumpert, move Knight in three-team deal

The Houston Rockets are getting some wing help, having acquired Iman Shumpert in a three-team trade with the Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers, as first reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. He started 40 games for the Kings this season, averaging 8.9 points and 3.1 rebounds per game for the team. In return, the Cavs will receive Brandon Knight, Marquese Chriss and a 2019 lottery-protected first round pick from Houston.

The Kings are receiving Alec Burks and a second-round pick from the Cavs as part of the deal. Stauskas (6-6, 205) and Baldwin (6-4, 200) were acquired by the Cavaliers from the Portland Trail Blazers along with Portlands own 2021 and 2023 second round draft picks in exchange for guard Rodney Hood on February 4.

Shumpert, 28, could become a key bench player for the Rockets as they pursue a deep run in the Western Conference playoffs.

James Harden echoed Paul's excitement over the addition of Shumpert and praised the Rockets for being active before the trade deadline.

But even though Shumpert is feeling a type of way about being traded, there are a few team members excited about him joining the Rockets' lineup. "And somebody like that, I can play with any day of the week". Willie and the Kings had a tough night after hearing about the trade that went down.

"He created a movement here", Cauley-Stein said. So it was real quiet, all around, today it was real quiet. "Even in the building, the energy was weird".
